Art Installation at The Saturday Showcase

There are 4 spots available to any types of artist that would be interested in:

a) Showcasing their art to the public

b) Performing a Live Visual Arts Installation on canvas (free canvas given to artist*)

c) Selling a Limited amount of previously made Art

This year at The Saturday Showcase we would like to accommodate 6 Artists at each event. We have arranged for 6 event days. The dates are as follows:

July 28, 2007

August 4, 2007

August 25, 2007

September 8, 2007

September 15, 2007

September 22, 2007

Each event runs from 12pm-8pm

For the Live Visual Art Installation each Artist can use the medium they feel comfortable with using. We will provide the canvas for the Artists.

An approximately 28 in. x 56 in. or 28 in. x 28 in. canvas will be given to each Artist to create a visual masterpiece. Each artist will have 8 hours to create his or her Art piece. After each day the canvasses will be collected and kept for the Art Charity Silent Auction that will follow after September 22, 2007.

We will need each artist to use the plastic sheet provided to keep the ground clean around their Specified area. The meet-up location prior to the event so you will know where you are situated in the park will be the sound booth located in front of the stage.

Please bring all the supplies you will need for the event, as we will not provide any medium supplies, tools, paint brushes, etc. Although we will encourage you to meet the other Artists.

We will contact you 2 weeks prior to the event to confirm the dates of your presence.

We will allow for the sale of up to 10 Art pieces of your choice. A $25 fee will be collected the day of for the use of your 10′ x 10′ selling space while at the event. A receipt will be provided the day you set up. If you are only coming to showcase your art to the public and will not be selling art then there will not be a $25 fee.

We insist that you prepare for the days event with sunscreen and some sort of shade provider such as an umbrella. Sand bags will be provided to tie STAND-UP umbrellas down on the ground for safety.

If there are any specific needs that you may need to perform your Art please don’t hesitate to let us know what those needs are as we want you to feel as comfortable as possible to create your splendid Artworks.

PLEASE CONTACT SEAN at: seandowdeswell@yahoo.ca to register.

* the free canvas is on terms that Slakrz.com can keep the canvas to be auctioned off at a silent auction in support of the Caylan Boyse Foundation. All further information about the auction will be given to the artists at a date closer to the event.

Wow! It’s Completed

Filed under: Murals — webmaster @ 7:20 am

I have just finished my “NEW” MURAL at My Favorite Ice Cream Shoppe. It’s an 800 Sq. ft. wall finished on May 5th, 2007. I have had a blast painting this wonderful mural, I met many community members who were all an inspiration to me. I had an excellent time.

I have included ideas in the mural from the Calgary Boy’s Chior, Corte Delano, Bleached Orchid, and I will add the names of others later. This mural was to represent the Customer Appreciation Day On April 21, 2007 that was such a great time, I had so much fun with some of the live music provided by Slakrz.com, it was awesome having bands play music in the Parking Lot of My Favorite Ice Cream Shoppe. It will happen again.

I would like to thank Joseph Yoon for the great oppurtunity to paint in such a reputable community. I hope to see you all down there for an Ice Cream at the next LIVE MUSIC SHOWCASE!

Remember:

I SCREAM,

YOU SCREAM,

WE ALL SCREAM,

FOR ICE CREAM!

Canadian Lands.

Filed under: Canadian Lands — webmaster @ 4:26 pm

I will be highlighting this fall in my “Canadian Lands” gallery page, a variety of Canadian lands I have travelled to. This will be able to let people see our beautiful country the way I have seen it and focus on the beauty of our country side. From the serenity of woods to the bustle of everyday life, from West to East, Canadian Lands have inspired to create a lasting memory for any citizen of our Canadian Culture.

This was a Canada Day painting done of Mount Wapta just on the Alberta/BC border just east of Takakwa falls where me and some friends went camping. I enjoyed the weather for the day since it was a sunny and warm.
